How to get and exboyfriend back?

ok, I’m 40 yrs old and so is he. We’ve had a rocky relationship for the past year. I broke up with him over trust issues. I’ve dealt with them now and I can trust him now. When I broke up with him I was upset and laid into him. After 2 weeks he called me and tried to get me back. I tried but I wasn’t there yet. I dated someone recently and was like oh hell no I don’t want to date I’m still madly in love with the boyfriend. I told the boyfriend what I was up to. He was upest as hell but understood. He gave up on trying to get me back. Since then about (1 week) ago he has been active on match .com trying to score a date. I called him and left a message to call me. He didn’t return the call. I emailed him 3 days ago and nothing. I hate this. I know if its meant to be he’ll be back. But guess what during that time he may meet someone and mess things up like I almost did.
